Chica and Heinz Schaller Research Award:
Applications can be submitted by young scientists (up to 40 years of age), working at the University of Heidelberg. The candidates should lead independent research groups and thus serve as a role model for other young scientists. Autonomy has to be documented by the presentation of the applicant’s publications of her/his own work group (without the head of the institute). Publications dating from post-doc times are not sufficient.
The personal, outstanding achievement of establishing a successful and independent research group is awarded with 10.000 €. An additional 90.000 € to support the awardee’s future research will be given to the respective research institution.
The award is offered once a year. To apply, please submit one printed copy of the following documents as well as a single pdf file of the application to the C.H.S. Foundation by October 15:
- Summary of present scientific achievements (1 page, 11 pt)
- Future research interests and objectives (1 page)
- CV (1-2 pages)
- List of publications without abstracts or talks (divided into original papers and reviews)
- Prizes and awards
- Third-party funding (principal investigator(s), funding organization, duration, volume)
- Members of research group including information on the funding of positions
Please do not include: reprints, preprints, and academic certificates.
C.H.S. Fellowship for Research Group Leaders:
Applications can be submitted by young junior scientists (younger than 40 years) at the University of Heidelberg who fulfill the criteria for an appointment as a professor and have already successfully led an independent research group. Their independence should be documented by last author publications (without the authorship of the director of their institute or the department). Publications resulting from the apllicants postdoc p.eriod are not sufficient.
The foundation provides the group leaders salary; additional research funding, laboratory space, and standard equipment is required.
Applications containing one printed copy of the following documents as well as a single
pdf file of the application can be submitted to the C.H.S. Foundation at any time:
- Work plan (5 pages max., 11 pt, line spacing 1.5) or 2 pages for the C.H.S. Short-Term Fellowship, respectively.
- Summary of present scientific achievements (1 page, 11 pt)
- Confirmation of the host laboratory regarding provision of laboratory space and basic equipment
- CV (2 pages max.)
- List of publications excluding meeting abstracts and talks (divided into original papers and reviews)
- Prizes and awards
- Third-party funding (submitter, funding organization, duration, volume)
- Composition of workgroup including the respective positions’ financing
