Projects, Grants, Awards
The C.H.S.-Foundation grants research funds which can be flexibly used. This program is designed to allow outstanding young scientists in academic institutions to focus on their scientific projects and to enhance their future career perspectives.
The following activities are funded:
- The annual Chica and Heinz Schaller Research Award for young scientists, endowed with 10.000 € for the awardeeÂs personal achievement in addition to 90.000 € to support the future research of the awardee, which will be transferred to the awardeeÂs institute.
- The C.H.S. research groups at the University of Heidelberg and the DKFZ. These groups have been enstablished in 2011 and are supported with startup funds as well as funds for salaries and consumables for a period of 5 years.
- Fellowships for temporarily employed research group leaders who fulfil the criteria for the appointment to a non-tenured professorship. These fellowships are awarded for up to 3 years. In addition, there are also C.H.S. Short-Term Fellowships.
- Initial support for the establishment of research groups and endowed chairs.
In addition, the C.H.S.-Foundation sponsors seminar series.
Currently NOT eligible for funding are:
· meetings and workshops
· Fellowships for PhD students and postdocs
· Financial support for specific research projects analogous to a DFG grant
· Travel expenses
